Bad Allegories
A man was walking a path. The path was enjoyable even though the man did not know where it led. It was enjoyable until the man found an obstacle in the path. He could not continue. The man sat down and considered his options. He could return the way he came and forget the journey completely. This was unacceptable. He could sit down and stay where he was, even though it was not a destination. This also was unacceptable. He could try to get past the obstacle and continue on this path as if the obstacle did not exist. This was also unacceptable. He thought about walking on another path he knew of. He did not know where it was, or where it led. That path was not as beautiful as the first path, and it would not be easy to find this path, but the man decided that was what he would do. Finding this path was not easy. The man was often confused and lost his direction. Several times, he wished he could go back to the path he had already traveled for he was familiar with that path was like. He knew that, that path was blocked however, and led nowhere. As he came closer to the new path and farther from the old path, the search became easier. Eventually he found the new path. Now that he was on a path again he did not know where he was going. Perhaps this path eventually ran back into the first path. Perhaps it went off in a different direction. Perhaps it too came to a dead-end. It did not matter. He was on this path now, and it was good.
